Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray reckons striker Lukas Jutkiewicz could be back in action by the middle of next month.
That follows a scan showing his knee ligament injury wasn’t quite as serious as initially feared. As a result the 23-year-old doesn’t currently require an operation and it is hoped he will make a full recovery after an extended rest.
“He’s had a scan and he’s seen a specialist and it doesn’t seem that he needs an operation,” Mowbray explained to the Evening Gazette. “He’s damaged his lateral knee ligament and he could be out for about four weeks.
“It was a training ground collision, nothing out of the ordinary but unfortunately Lukas suffered some damage,” he added. “Hopefully it just needs time to heal.”
