Defender Calum Chambers admits he learned plenty while spending last season on loan at Middlesbrough.

The 22-year-old Arsenal centre-back is currently away with the England Under-21s in Poland, but reckons playing regularly alongside the highly-rated Ben Gibson at club level was massively beneficial to his overall game.

“Obviously we had to defend a lot playing against teams and positionally that’s helped me a lot,” Chambers reflected to the Evening Gazette. “Playing in every game and defending a lot, it’s been a very good season for me, from experienced and a learning curve.

“This season has been so important for me, playing games as a centre-back,” he continued. “The experience I have gained in that position just from playing is so valuable to me. I just feel it’s just pushed me on another level.”
