Middlesbrough have agreed a fee for Birmingham City defender Ryan Shotton.

The Teessiders hope to include the 28-year-old former Stoke City and Derby County player who is currently valued at around £3m by his club, in their weekend visit to Nottingham Forest.

However, Blues boss Harry Redknapp won’t actually sanction the departure of Shotton until securing a suitable replacement, reports the Northern Echo, although talks with Bristol City regarding Aden Flint are understood to be moving towards a favourable conclusion.

Meanwhile, Boro winger Stewart Downing was still expected to move in the opposite direction.
