Middlesbrough have received their fifth successive away draw in the Capital One Cup this season – and twelfth consecutively.
Having already accounted for Bury, Gillingham, Preston North End and Sunderland, Boro must next travel to Swansea City, who won 3-1 at Liverpool on Wednesday evening, in the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere, both Chelsea and Arsenal face trips to Yorkshire and Leeds United and Bradford City respectively.
Meanwhile, Norwich City host Aston Villa in a repeat of the 1975 final – the tie also marking a return to his former club for Villa boss Paul Lambert.
