Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray believes he still has the full backing of chairman Steve Gibson.

Boro have slipped down the table over recent weeks following a dreadful sequence of ten defeats in their last thirteen Championship games.

And while Gibson is understandably frustrated at how such a promising league campaign has faltered since the turn of the year, it would appear he still has great faith his current manager, particularly given the financial constraints Mowbray has been forced to work alongside.

“I feel he’s still supportive and understanding at the moment,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “He knows more than anybody where we were when we came in and where we are now.”

Despite their recent woes, ninth-placed Boro are still within five points of the play-offs with eight games remaining.
