Fourth-placed Middlesbrough are chasing a first win in three games against Huddersfield Town at the Riverside this evening.

Boro are without midfielder Grant Leadbitter, who is suspended after picking up his fifth caution of the season in the weekend defeat to Bristol City. He would probably have missed the game anyway with a calf strain.

Defender Jonathan Woodgate and midfielder Faris Haroun are also out with calf injuries. Left-back George Friend is similarly unavailable alongside long-term casualties Rhys Williams, Julio Arca, Mustapha Carayol and Curtis Main

“Losing Grant is a blow to us, he’s been exceptionally good and brings real drive to our midfield,” manager Tony Mowbray admitted to Boro’s official website. “He’s a little bit better today – on Sunday he could hardly walk and he would have been touch and go. He’s a lad who if he can play, he will play, so there’s a fair chance he’ll be ready for Friday.”

The Terriers miss the suspended Adam Clayton but are appealing against the weekend dismissal of Keith Southern. Meanwhile, Jermaine Beckford and Sean Scannell both face late tests.
