Middlesbrough take a trip to Hillsborough this weekend to meet improving Sheffield Wednesday in their latest game.
Boro must make a change in goal as on loan Shay Given has returned to parent club Aston Villa. However, regular first-choice Jason Steele is back after three months out following ankle surgery, while recent loan arrival Tomas Mejias Osorio also comes into the reckoning.
Defensive pair Rhys Williams [Achilles] and Daniel Ayala [ankle] both remain on the sidelines as the visitors search for their first goal in seven games.
“It will be a difficult game against a team in a similar position to us in the table,” head coach Aitor Karanka told Boro’s official website. “We have to play like we did in the last game but this time to score.
“The message I told them after the game is that if we play the way we did against Leeds and Blackpool the goals will arrive. We need to keep working and believe in our way,” he continued. “I am more confident this week because the way we played last weekend was good for me. If we play this way we will win the games.”
Wednesday are without winger Michail Antonio because of an ankle injury but Jermaine Johnson returns from a four-game ban.
