Middlesbrough have dismissed recent speculation linking them with Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman.

The 26-year-old former England Under-21 international is a free agent this summer having enjoyed a successful campaign with the League One champions.

Wolves still remain hopeful of keeping him but there was expected to be plenty of interest from the Championship and possibly above.

However, Boro chairman Steve Gibson has ruled out any likelihood of an approach from the Teessiders for a player who can operate at both centre-back and right-back.
