Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray believes new recruit Kieron Dyer can prove a real influence at the Riverside.
The 34-year-old has arrived on a short-term contract following his release from Queens Park Rangers, where he experienced a succession of injury problems.
However, 33 England caps during an eight-year period prior to that certainly signalled him as one of the most natural talents in the domestic game.
“It’s a deal that suits both parties,” Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “Kieron and his advisors have been very, very honourable in the discussions. He’s a good lad and a good pro.
“He wants to play football and he’s happy to be here – hopefully he can contribute and help us succeed,” he added. “I’ve known Kieron a long time and coached him for a year or two at Ipswich before he moved on. At such a young age he was a fabulous footballer and he’s still a fabulous footballer.”
