Middlesbrough are understood to be in talks with the versatile Andy Halliday over a new deal at the Riverside.

The 21-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign after joining Boro from Scottish outfit Livingston a couple of years ago.

Halliday originally arrived on Teesside as a progressive winger with an eye for goal but has most recently been featuring at left-back.

Discussions are said to be ongoing with manager Tony Mowbray keen on settling his future following recent speculation linking both Rangers and Cardiff City.
