Middlesbrough are being linked with a possible move for Lens midfielder Samba Sow.

The 24-year-old Malian international has already indicated he would be keen on a switch across the Channel at the end of the current season.

“I am flattered by the interest of a good club like Middlesbrough,” Sow told SkySports. “I just want to finish the season strongly and we will see, but I will take an opportunity to join the English League even if it is not the Premier League. I think the Championship is also the best second league in the world.”

Boro chief Tony Mowbray was on his travels immediately following last weekend’s home draw with Charlton Athletic assessing potential new recruits. He was understood to be taking in Segunda Liga leaders Elche against Girona on Sunday, with Paraguayan striker Javier Acuna one of his targets.
