Middlesbrough are being linked with a move for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.

The 24-year-old scored fourteen times in 33 appearances to eventually finish as Forest’s leading marksman last season. Those included a vital double against Ipswich Town on the final day ensuring them relegation survival.

Assombalonga only signed a new five-year deal at the City Ground last summer after originally arriving from Peterborough United in August 2014. But he’s been the subject of transfer speculation before according to the Nottingham Post, with Norwich City having an earlier bid turned down.

Boro’s new boss Garry Monk already conceded his inherited squad needed “freshening up a bit” following relegation last term.
