Middlesbrough have signed Real Madrid goalkeeper Tomas Mejias on a two-year deal.
The former Spanish Under-21 international appeared once – a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday – whilst on loan to the Teessiders last season.
He then suffered a dislocated finger and was sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Spanish giants Real have included a first option to resign the 25-year-old keeper, who is already well-known to Boro head coach Aitor Karanka from his spell as assistant to Jose Mourinho in Madrid.
