Manager Tony Pulis might not restrict himself to only trying to take defender Craig Dawson from former club West Bromwich Albion.

Boro are also being linked with their ex-midfielder James Morrison and Chris Brunt, plus, though apparently a little more tenuously, one-time England goalkeeper Ben Foster, says a report in the Evening Gazette.

Albion appear increasingly certain to be relinquishing their Premier League status at the end of the season, which in turn is likely to witness major activity and an overhaul of their playing squad.

And while Pulis noticeably kept the purse strings tight during the January window, he seems more likely to loosen them come the summer, regardless of which division the club then finds itself in.

However, whether the players concerned would be prepared to commit their immediate futures to the Championship remains in doubt, be that at Albion, Boro or wherever.
