Middlesbrough are ready to pay £15m for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga, according to reports.

Premier League Burnley have already seen an £8m bid rejected by Forest, who originally recruited the 24-year-old goalscorer in a record £5.5m deal from Peterborough United in August 2014.

He’s since netted 30 times in 65 league games while making himself one of the leading marksmen in the Championship.

However, Boro are apparently ready to pay almost double that failed offer in order to secure his signature, reports the Nottingham Post.

Assombalonga is still under contract with Forest until 2021 after only signing a new five-year deal last summer.
