Middlesbrough seek to end their recent losing run when hosting Leeds United at the Riverside this evening.

Five successive defeats have certainly stalled Boro’s challenge towards the top of the table since the turn of the year, but remarkably they still remain firmly in touch with an automatic promotion place if not the outright leadership.

Defender Jonathan Woodgate is set to return against his former club while Muzzy Carayol and Curtis Main showed no adverse reactions after making goalscoring returns against Barnsley at the weekend.

Belgian midfielder Faris Haroun may also be involved and on loan striker Ishmael Miller could make the bench following recent ankle trouble, although fellow forward Scott McDonald (back) is still doubtful.

“We have to get back to winning ways in the league very quickly,” manager Tony Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “It was frustrating at the weekend. Sometimes when it isn’t going your way every shot seems to go in for the opposition. We just have to keep working and that will turn. We have enough good players.”

Both El-Hadji Diouf and Rudy Austin and likely to be recalled by the visitors having been rested at the weekend.
