Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz says the squad are beginning to really believe they can be promoted following a sixth successive victory in all competitions at the weekend.
Boro moved up to second in the table with a 4-1 triumph against Charlton Athletic despite going behind early at The Valley – and only goal-difference currently keeps them from top place in the Championship.
That followed them claiming a place in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup with a midweek victory at neighbours Sunderland.
“Being on this run does make us believe we can do it,” Jutkiewicz told the Northern Echo. “We have to keep piling pressure on the teams around us and obviously it will get them looking at our results. Hopefully come the end of the season we’ll be in a similar position.
“The clubs we have beaten this week are big clubs and they’re three big victories,” he added. “We’ve really got to commend all the lads out there who have been giving everything.”
