Gareth Southgate faces competition to land young striker.
Long time Boro target Nicky Maynard is reportedly in demand, with Ipswich supposedly lodging a bid for the 21-year-old.
Maynard, who has admirers at the Riverside after scoring 35 goals in just 65 games for Crewe, looks to be moving on with a reported £1million offer coming in from Ipswich. It remains to be seen if other interested parties including Boro and Fulham hijack the bid.
Gareth Southgate is reported to have had scouts at many of Maynard’s games observing the youngster over the course of last season, only time will tell if the reported interest is serious.
