Luke Williams scored twice as Middlesbrough earned a comfortable 4-1 win over Romanian opponents Tirgu Mures.

Boro went ahead as Andy Halliday found Williams on eighteen minutes and he produced a clinical finish beyond the goalkeeper.

Williams then added his second just before the interval when chesting down from Richard Smallwood and firing in.

Head coach Aitor Karanka made wholesale changes at the break and Christian Burgess headed his side further in front nine minutes into the second-half.

However, Amauri soon pulled a goal back when Jason Steele couldn’t hold onto Voiculet’s shot, until Bradley Fewster tucked in Lee Tomlin’s 81st minute corner to complete the scoring.
