Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has told his players they must stop giving away goals if they want to make a return to the Premier League.
That follows Boro twice leading at Birmingham City last Friday evening until eventually going down to their third defeat in four games at St Andrew’s.
Despite their loss Boro currently sit in fourth place in the table, although now five points off an automatic promotion spot ahead of visiting bottom club Peterborough United this weekend.
“Let’s not criticise anybody, it is what it is and the team have been great this season,” Mowbray told Sky Sports. “But we are here to try to get out of this league and win football matches. We have to understand the urgency of it, and we can’t lose three goals of that nature.”
