Middlesbrough are amongst the clubs pursuing highly-rated Hartlepool United teenager Luke James, according to reports.
The eighteen-year-old had already attracted interest from Newcastle United and Celtic after originally progressing through the youth ranks at Victoria Park.
However, Boro, Huddersfield Town, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Shrewsbury Town are amongst the clubs now monitoring the situation of the attacking midfielder.
Amble-born James scored three times in 26 games for relegated Hartlepool last season.
