Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray praised defender Jonathan Woodgate’s professionalism and dedication to the club.
The 33-year-old former England international hasn’t missed a league game so far this season despite the sad loss of his father on the eve of the new campaign.
“Jonathan has done very little training, [having] put his father to rest,” Mowbray told BBC Tees. “To be able to switch off and perform like that is testament to him.
“When you have the talent he has, of course, the game comes easy,” he continued. “He’s a fabulous guy, who is desperate for the club to do well.”
