Middlesbrough exchanged places with Burnley in the table after conceding a late winner at Turf Moor.

The sides had remained level until Andre Gray’s 80th minute shot escaped the attentions of goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Scott Arfield’s tame effort had earlier offered no threat to the Spaniard while Cristhian Stuani dragged wide in reply from Antonio Barragan’s delivery over the top.

Summer recruit Jeff Hendrick was similarly wayward for the hosts before Ashley Barnes saw a low drive turned aside by Valdes at full-stretch.

He also thwarted George Boyd after Calum Chambers had survived handball claims inside the area, before Gaston Ramirez’s free-kick was merely routine for home keeper Tom Heaton following the break.

England international Heaton later acrobatically dealt with Stuani’s header; until a long ball in the other direction was helped on by substitute Sam Vokes and Gray’s first-time strike beat Valdes with only ten minutes remaining.
