Middlesbrough will attempt to take points away from fellow promotion hopefuls Cardiff City this weekend.

However, the visitors must check on former Cardiff duo Rudy Gestede [back] and Fabio Da Silva [thigh].

Leading goalscorer Britt Assombalonga could therefore return in attack having come off the bench to miss a late penalty during the 2-1 victory against Reading.

“Every game is different, we are playing Cardiff who are a good side,” manager Tony Pulis told The Northern Echo. “Look at the table, they are a consistent side, they have an identity and it will be tough.

“If we are creating chances, we will score goals. We could have scored five or six on Saturday, we scored two and that was enough, but the great thing is this team is producing decent football and producing opportunities.”

The Bluebirds similarly await news on striker Gary Madine [broken nose/ankle] having missed out against former club Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

Meanwhile, defender Sol Bamba is set to return at the expense of Lee Peltier, with Jazz Richards remaining sidelined.

Matt Connolly, Craig Bryson and Kadeem Harris are still making their way back to fitness.
