On loan Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran would like to remain at Middlesbrough for the rest of the season.

The England Under-21 international is currently on a season-long loan from the European champions but could be recalled at any time as part of the original agreement set in place between the two clubs.

However, McEachran would far sooner continue to help Boro press on with their own promotion challenge rather than return to reserve team action in West London.

“I’ve been at Chelsea since the age of seven and I’ve grown up there,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s always been my dream to play regular first-team football there. But at present, I’d like to stay here for the rest of the season.

“We’ve got a genuine chance of going up and I want to be part of it,” McEachran continued. “We have a really good manager here and I like the way he wants to play. We’re playing two games a week and it’s really intensive, but it’s improving me as a player.”
