Manager Garry Monk is unhappy with the rejected appeal against winger Adama Traore’s three-match suspension.

The Spaniard was sent-off during the opening exchanges on his return to former club Aston Villa in midweek.

He now misses the weekend game against QPR and the Carabao Cup tie at Villa on Tuesday, plus the league visit to Fulham four days later.

“Hugely disappointed,” Monk told the Northern Echo. “It was the wrong decision. I am not just judging it afterwards, I knew that at the time.

“I was disappointed for Adama then and I am now and we have to suffer being without a player for three games and it is a bitter pill to swallow. It is for us to get on with it and move on.”
