Defender Stuart Parnaby was left hailing battling Middlesbrough following their 4-1 weekend success at Charlton Athletic.

Boro were forced to come from behind in the capital before eventually running out comfortable winners against their Championship newcomers.

However, the 30-year-old who returned to the club over the summer conceded the visitors were far from their best and really had to scrap for long stages until finally coming out on top.

“It was a massive team effort. It was all about working together as a unit,” he told the Evening Gazette. “We were a really strong group out there. It was a bit of a grind for an hour or so but once we got ahead there was no way back for them. Still, if you can come away with a win like that when you are far from your best, it’s not bad is it?”
