Middlesbrough full-back Justin Hoyte has been ruled out of action for between six and eight weeks.
The 28-year-old former Arsenal defender visited a specialist earlier this week and scans revealed the full extent of his hip injury.
Hoyte actually made a brief comeback against Leicester City last week before being forced out of the action midway through the opening half.
But in more positive news both Muzzy Carayol and Curtis Main are making good progress and were set to be included for the Barclays Premier U21 League game at Chelsea later this evening.
