Manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines could be sidelined until mid-September.

The 24-year-old required knee surgery last month and is now undergoing rehabilitation, with the initial estimate of him missing the big kick-off on 3rd August.

But it now appears that Hines is likely to be kept on the sidelines until well into the following month and probably sitting out anything up to ten games.

“It looks like Seb will miss the first six weeks of the season,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “Maybe he will be back in September.”

Mowbray does though expect striker Marvin Emnes (hamstring) to fully recover in time for the start of pre-season training on 24th June.
