Newcomer Kieron Dyer says he is sure the current situation will soon improve after making his Middlesbrough debut at the weekend.

The former England winger certainly experienced a tough introduction as the Teessiders crashed 4-0 at his hometown club Ipswich Town. It marked a fourth straight league defeat for the visitors.

“The result was bitterly disappointing and I can’t think of a worse place to lose 4-0 than in front of the Ipswich fans that have been so good to me down the years,” Dyer told the Evening Gazette “But that’s the way it is, you certainly can’t begrudge Ipswich their three points, I thought they played extremely well and took advantage of our mistakes.

“We let ourselves down and we’ve got a couple of games coming up now and it’s up to us to make amends,” he added. “To get 90 minutes under my belt was a bonus at the start of my Middlesbrough career.”

Boro are next in action when hosting Barnsley at the weekend before then welcoming Leeds United to the Riverside.
