Former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka is amongst the bookies’ favourites for the managerial vacancy at Scottish Premiership Rangers.

Having yesterday been listed at 40/1 with certain bookies, the Spaniard may now be backed at 3/1 in some markets.

However, Derek McInnes is still the favourite to succeed Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record, while former manager Alex McLeish is currently in second place.

Karanka, 44, departed the Riverside earlier this year after previously leading the Teessiders into the Premier League – that having earlier served as assistant to Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Rangers dismissed Caixinha five weeks ago, with head coach of the development squad Graeme Murty left in interim charge.
