Middlesbrough striker Scott McDonald is understandably considering his future at the Riverside.

As already one of the highest remaining wage-earners at the club, the 29-year-old Australian international is naturally amongst those who could be most affected by the forthcoming financial restraints for next season.

“Everyone will ask if I will still be here,” McDonald told the Northern Echo. “People will talk, people can say what they want. I am not interested in what anyone says. Me, the manager and the club will have a chat and we will take it from there.

“I will keep working hard and doing my best for the football club which pays my wages,” he continued. “That’s all I can do. If I can come off the pitch and know I have given everything then I will be happy.”

McDonald still has a year remaining on his existing deal after originally arriving from Celtic back in the summer of 2010. He has to date scored a dozen times in 34 appearances this time around.
