Head coach Aitor Karanka was delighted to witness a first home league win of the season for Middlesbrough.

Boro went in front through a fine solo effort from Gaston Ramirez before Stewart Downing doubled their tally in a 2-0 success against AFC Bournemouth at the Riverside.

“Our last three games have been really good and we had to show everybody we could compete, especially at home,” Karanka told BBC Sport. “With this performance and commitment of everybody, I think we are going the right way.

“The team showed we are really good when we are together,” he added. “Once again we showed we have a clear plan and we have to keep going.”
