Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka was delighted as his side hit five goals without reply against Atletico Clube Portugal.

Newcomer Kike and Bradley Fewster both scored twice, supplemented by a George Friend strike – with three of the goals coming in the first fifteen minutes.

“It was good,” Karanka told Boro’s official website. “We worked very well. To score goals is important. This was the last game and the week has gone well. It was important to finish with a performance and a win like that.

“People will demand goals from Kike and to him I say ‘congratulations.’ The first goal is always important for any player,” he added. “Brad will always score goals. He always has goals in his mind. He’s going to be a good player.”
