Goalkeeper Jason Steele won’t be distracted from his main aim of getting Middlesbrough back into the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has been an ever-present for Boro in the Championship this season, during which time his performances have already alerted a number of clubs from the top-flight.

However, England Under-21 international Steele still has a couple of years to run on his existing deal at the Riverside and has absolutely no thoughts of going anywhere else at present.

“I have said all along that I am still contracted to Middlesbrough for at least another two years,” Steele told the Northern Echo “This is my club and it is where I have grown up.

“It’s where I have always been, so I am not thinking about anything other than trying to get Middlesbrough back in the Premier League,” he added. “A few months ago it looked like we would be going up. But things have not gone our way and we need to go again after the summer.”
