Middlesbrough defender George Friend has called for his side to rediscover their full battling qualities over the remaining eight games of the season.

Boro are still in with a chance of the play-offs despite their recent record of ten defeats in their last thirteen league games. That currently has them down in ninth in the table and five points short of the leading six clubs.

“Everyone wants it,” Friend told the Evening Gazette. “There are eight games left and we have to fight all the way. We have made if difficult for ourselves yet it is still possible – but we know we have to deliver far better performances and results.

“But we pretty much have everyone fit now which helps,” he added. “We all need to give it one final push.”
