Match Preview: Ipswich Town v Middlesbrough

|

Middlesbrough close their regular league programme with a visit to mid-table Ipswich Town knowing their place in the play-offs is already safely confirmed (kick-off 12.30pm).

That follows their latest 2-0 victory against promotion rivals Millwall at the Riverside, courtesy of strikes from Britt Assombalonga and Jonny Howson.

The only question now remains who they are to face in the play-offs, currently Aston Villa but also potentially Fulham or Cardiff City.

Manager Tony Pulis could therefore decide to rest players for the trip to Portman Road, with only striker Rudy Gestede definitely ruled out.

Their opponents are now under the temporary leadership of caretaker manager Bryan Klug following the departure of former boss Mick McCarthy last month.

Midfielder Grant Ward misses out through suspension, although recent absentees Luke Hyam and Cole Skuse could return.

But Dean Gerken, Adam Webster, Luke Chambers, David McGoldrick, Joe Garner, Tom Adeyemi, Emyr Huws and Andre Dozzell remain sidelined.
