Middlesbrough’s midweek match-winner Mustapha Carayol is already looking ahead to next season.
The 23-year-old claimed the only goal of the contest to earn Boro a much-needed first win in eight games against Nottingham Forest at the Riverside.
That was his fourth strike in what has otherwise turned into an injury-plagued first season since arriving from Bristol Rovers last summer.
“It’s been tough for me to start the season decent like I did and then get injured. I guess that’s football,” Carayol told the Northern Echo. “The gaffer gave me a shot at this level and I have to repay him and the fans.
“Hopefully I can put out more performances to keep the fans coming to watch,” he continued. “I am buzzing for next season already and I pray I stay fit and make the fans proud of me.”
