What can he bring to the side? Is he a realistic target?

Well the rumour mills are in full swing now and the Boro are being linked with players every day. Midfield is the current flavour when it comes to the press speculating on which areas need strengthening and who will be brought in during the transfer window.

The most frequent rumour concerns Michael Bradley, a midfielder who currently earns his money and plaudits playing for Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivise. He is a USA international, so far winning 14 caps and scoring the 1 goal although that could change this evening because he is in the squad to face England in a friendly at Wembley. He could come up against current Boro players David Wheater and Stewart Downing who have been named in the England squad.

From his attacking midfield role, he scored 16 goals throughout the 2007-2008 league season, his goal input and creativity is what Boro`s midfield is currently crying out for. For the USA, he plays a more defensive role in midfield so he also has some flexibility should we need it. However, should we bring him in and partner him with George Boateng or someone of the same style he would have the license to entertain the Boro faithful.

He is though, reportedly wanted by a few clubs with Everton a name being mentioned but what could swing his decision our way is the fact that he knows Afonso Alves from when they played together at Heerenveen, they will have a good understanding of one another`s game.

  • He showed some good touches for a big lad last night. Yeah your right. they were pretty average against England.

  • Only really got to see some short passing from him……..but you can’t do anything when everyone around you aint putting in a good shift.

  • I’ve just been checking out some videos of Bradley.. he is a box-to-box midfielder who loves to get forward. He scored quite a few goals last season.
