Middlesbrough can move within three points of safety and with still a game in hand if they can defeat Arsenal at the Riverside this evening (kick-off 8.00pm).

Those chances have increased with the return of full-back George Friend following his calf problem while midfielder Gaston Ramirez [ankle] has similarly recovered.

Otherwise, on loan defender Calum Chambers is ineligible to face his parent club.

“George is back in,” Boro head coach Steve Agnew confirmed to the Northern Echo. “We have a fully-fit squad. Every single player is fit and champing at the bit to play. That’s great news for me.

“It’s a selection headache, but that’s the way I would rather have it. The only player unavailable is Calum Chambers and that’s because the Premier League rules dictate that he can’t play.

“It’s a massive game,” he added. “It’s one we need to win. We need the three points and that’s what we’ll be trying to do.”

Arsenal hope to have skipper Laurent Koscielny back from an Achilles injury while goalkeeper Petr Cech [calf] may also be recalled.

However, forward Lucas Perez and keeper David Ospina are still unavailable for selection.
