Managerless Middlesbrough have a Boxing Day clash with Bolton Wanderers at the Riverside (kick-off 3.00pm).

Academy boss Craig Liddle takes temporary charge following the weekend dismissal of Garry Monk, that despite a 2-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday.

Boro were reporting no fresh injury concerns as they bid to push themselves back into the play-offs.

Currently ninth in the table, they still trail initial targets Aston Villa by three points while notably a dozen away from an automatic promotion place.

Bolton could decide on an unchanged starting line-up having surprisingly overcome high-flying Cardiff City 2-0 at the weekend, although they remain in the relegation places.

Skipper Darren Pratley and defender Mark Little both completed ninety minutes following recent problems but striker Adam Le Fondre is still ruled out.
