Middlesbrough are in desperate need of a victory when hosting Burnley at the Riverside this weekend.

The Teessiders still haven’t won in the league since December and were hoping attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez recovers from the ankle injury that kept him out of their midweek defeat at Hull City.

Brazilian defender Fabio is again unavailable due to concussion, in addition to fellow full-backs Calum Chambers [foot] and George Friend [ankle].

“We know where we are – we have to set up to win the game,” Boro head coach Steve Agnew told BBC Sport. “I think they understand the importance of game, what we have to do tomorrow is carry out the game plan.

“If we do that and remain stable in terms of the game plan and see that through then I’m very confident.”

The Clarets need to check on midfielder Steven Defour [thigh] while Johann Berg Gudmundsson [knee] won’t be involved despite returning to training.

Midfielder Dean Marney (knee) is already ruled out for the rest of the season.
