Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw has joined Championship rivals Leeds United in a £4.5m deal.

The 26-year-old agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Elland Road club and could make his debut against Millwall this weekend.

Forshaw originally moved to Boro from Wigan Athletic three years ago, and went on to total 92 league appearances while scoring twice.

However, the one-time Brentford playmaker hadn’t yet featured under new boss Tony Pulis since being appointed last month.

“I wasn’t playing enough and as soon as I knew Leeds were interested I knew this was the club for me,” he told BBC Radio Leeds. “I was attracted by the history and the size of the club but I can see the project and what the club is trying to do now.”
