Manager Tony Mowbray states he won’t stand in the way of any player wanting to leave Middlesbrough.

While confirming that none of his current squad have actually requested to go on the transfer list, Mowbray says he is constantly working to cover every eventuality ahead of the next window opening in January.

“You’re always looking at players’ contracts, always thinking who’s unhappy because he’s not playing,” he told the Evening Gazette. “When a bid comes in, we’re not going to stand in their way.

“My job is not to hurt our team, but if a player is so unhappy because he’s not playing and a bid comes in that suits us, we will take that bid,” Mowbray continued. “I will shake that player by the hand and say ‘good luck’ and we will have somebody ready to come in and do the job because we have done our scouting.”
