Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is hoping for an immediate response when his side visit Burnley on Tuesday evening.

Boro’s promotion hopes took another blow at the weekend when suffering a sixth league defeat in seven games following a heavy 4-1 loss at Crystal Palace.

“Each time we lose, that’s another opportunity gone,” Mowbray confessed to the Evening Gazette. “I think it’s good for the group that there’s another game coming up.

“We’re disappointed but we have another opportunity tomorrow night to put it right. We’ll dust ourselves down and we’ll go again at Burnley,” he continued. “We have to remain positive now and if we can win seven or eight more games, that could give us enough points to get into a play-off position.”

The visitors were expected to be without Stuart Parnaby, Jonathan Woodgate, Justin Hoyte, Seb Hines and Scott McDonald at Turf Moor but striker Curtis Main returns from a one-match ban.
