Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray was grateful for a couple of late goals as his side eventually defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the Riverside.
Substitute Marvin Emnes kept his nerve from a disputed penalty to finally open their account on 89 minutes before Australian international Scott McDonald quickly added another.
Their victory leaves third-placed Boro currently just a single-point outside an automatic promotion place and three behind the leaders.
“I’m not going to question the integrity of the officials, they call it honestly every game,” manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Sport. “The boy leant into the ball and that’s why the linesman called it how he did.
“It was a huge result for us. It wasn’t the most fluid or polished we have played all season but that doesn’t matter now,” he added. “We can’t play well every week but it wasn’t exactly daylight robbery. We worked hard and kept going and I think we got our rewards.”
