Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray hopes to find more players like Grant Leadbitter over the summer.
Mowbray has praised the contribution of the former Sunderland midfielder following his arrival on a free transfer from Ipswich Town twelve months ago.
“I have to say we need to try and find a few more Grant Leadbitters this year and that’s not to put him on too much of a pedestal,” Mowbray told the Northern Echo. “Just the quality of the pro he is, the hard work and his honesty, which is what makes him a core player and we are working hard to try and find a few more of them, which will help the team.”
The 27-year-old was recently named as supporters’ ‘Player of the Year’ after making 47 appearances and scoring four times last season.
