Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was pleased to be awarded a home tie in the third round of the FA Cup.

Boro are to host either Harrogate Town or Hastings United at the Riverside over the weekend of 5th and 6th January. The non-league pair are due to replay their second round tie next week following a 1-1 draw at the CNG Stadium.

“I’m just happy we are playing at home,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “It’s a big relief that we will be at the Riverside. We do a lot of travelling in the Championship so it’s good that we won’t be potentially facing a long journey to Hastings.

“I’m also happy that we are playing against opposition who are not in our division,” he continued. “It’s fantastic that non-league sides are still in the competition, it’s great credit to both Hastings and Harrogate. We know how hard the game will be. We saw that against Shrewsbury in the third round last season.”
