Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was simply relieved to get back on track following a late 1-0 victory over Leeds United.

Striker Curtis Main headed an 81st minute winner for them before promptly being dismissed for a second bookable offence. But it couldn’t prevent a long-awaited first league victory this year for the Teessiders.

“It’s nice to get a win, it’s been a while for us in the league and we need to keep the points ticking along,” Mowbray told BBC Sport. “Other games can be more of a football game but Leeds put you under pressure, don’t allow you to keep the ball and it becomes more of a physical battle. But we came out on top of that.”

Boro next face a vital trip to fellow promotion-challengers Crystal Palace at the weekend.
