Manager Tony Mowbray has revealed how Middlesbrough’s slump in form since the turn of the year continues to hit him really hard.

Faltering Boro have totalled a miserly seven points from an available 36 during that time and continued to seriously lose ground in the promotion race.

Their latest defeat at bottom club Bristol City found the Teessiders slipping further down to ninth place in the table at the weekend.

“Nobody suffers more than a manager. It takes a day or two to get over a result like Saturday’s,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “You sit on the bus for five and a half hours coming home and don’t talk to anybody, just running the game through in your mind. Then, come Monday morning, you have to go again.”
